“I’d sell my sole for a Formula 1 racing Car” – Bart Simpson
Toronto’s Exhibition Place hosted the 31st annual Honda Indy Toronto on July 14-16. This year’s
Honda Indy provided us with our first summer racing experience and I can honestly say that I am now a racing fan. I have yet to experience an event in which the atmosphere was totally dominated by the participants. Lap after lap these precision machines demanded the audience’s attention. The roar of the engines tickled one’s ear and for those few seconds of each lap the racers owned the atmosphere.
The Honda Indy, as one would expect, provided non-stop racing and excitement throughout the entire weekend. However, the Honda Indy surprised us with so much more. Inside the track area there were interactive games, prizes and, probably my favourite part of the day other than racing, the food trucks. There truly was something for everyone at the Toronto Indy 2017.
The grandstands were full of racing fans of all ages who all came out to take in the excitement and the atmosphere. I am positive I am not alone in saying that the Honda Indy 2017 was my first racing event but definitely will not be my last. If you get the opportuinity I highly recommend checking out the Honda Indy next summer, expecially if you have never been to a racing event. You will not be disappointed.
