The Crowd Ate ‘Em Raw: The Hamilton Tiger Cats 2017 Home Opener

On Saturday July 15th, the Hamilton Tiger Cats took on the B.C Lions on home turf for their season opener. Tim Hortons field was packed end to end with football fanatics, Tiger Cat supporters, Hamilton patriots and sport lovers. The atmosphere was amazing to say the least. From the heartening cheers of the fans to the wise words and support from Mike Morreale, former Tiger Cat receiver, to the half-time show by the Glorious Sons from Kingston, Ontario and of course the Ti-Cat Cheerleaders.

The crowd definitely had the team inspired throughout the first half, but unfortunately the team couldn’t carry that momentum into the second half and came out short with a score of 41-26 in favor of the BC Lions. Although the team was not successful, experiencing the Tiger Cat culture and feeling the love from the local Hamiltonians, the Home Opener may not be the only Ti-Cat game I attend this season.

The beautiful Tim Hortons field, located in the heart of downtown Hamilton, provided a stunning skyline view on the South side coupled with a perfect sunset to the North. The open stadium was flooded with black and golds dressed fans and the food and drinks did not disappoint. This family-friendly event was fun for all ages-from 6-month-old infants to 90-year-old grandparents, the 2017 Home Opener was an atmosphere to experience.
