Last weekend I had the opportunity to knock a couple of firsts off my festival bucket list when I attended the WayHome Music and Arts Festival at Burl’s Creek Event Ground. I have heard many stories about this first-tier festival, but I have to say my experience last weekend far exceeded my already built-up expectations.
The festival itself provided a diverse venue of artists that would be hard to find anywhere else. Musicians from around the world and multiple genres took to the stage to showcase their talents throughout the day. At night, the headliner band, Imagine Dragons, put on a show to remember. Never before have I seen such a lively crowd, and never before have I seen a band put so much emotion into a show. WayHome definitely got it right by making them the marquee event of the weekend.
Another thing I can now attest to is that the Burl’s Creek venue helps take events like this to new heights. The camping space often referred to as “tent city,” acts as a meeting ground for people to socialize, make new friends, and come together in the spirit of the festival. The grounds consist of multiple stages located in fields and forests, with plenty of room for everyone to enjoy their favourite artists. Burl’s Creek provides a truly unique setting that brings festival goers and artists together to share their common love for the arts.
WayHome provides a festival experience that is truly to be desired by other music and arts events. This festival will only continue to get better as the years go on, and I can’t wait to reunite with my WayHomies next year.
